ALDI usa grand openings
Where it all began
I’ve been part of ALDI’s grand opening journey since my days as an intern, when I first started learning the ins and outs of the grocery industry and what it takes to bring a new store to life. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how the program has evolved, from how we approached individual openings to the growing need for a more connected, scalable strategy. One thing has always stayed the same: a grand opening is more than just opening the doors. It’s an opportunity to make a lasting first impression, introduce ALDI to a new community, and give shoppers a reason to come back. That mindset has shaped the way I approach every launch.
Growing the Program
In 2025, my role expanded beyond executing individual grand openings to leading the overall strategy for the 2026 program. Alongside managing a high-stakes grand opening schedule that tracked the many moving pieces behind each launch, I took a step back to look at how we could make the entire process work better.
I helped develop a standardized playbook, conceptualized a centralized website to serve as a go-to resource for all 26 ALDI USA divisions, and introduced more efficient ways to manage assets, media investments, and activation spending. The goal was to make the day-to-day easier for everyone involved while creating a consistent, repeatable approach that could grow alongside the business.
700+ Openings
What started as an opportunity to learn as an intern grew into a program supporting more than 700 store openings nationwide. By rethinking processes, strengthening budget governance, and creating tools that brought teams together, we unlocked $2 million in cost savings and strategic reallocations for 2026 while building a framework designed to support ALDI’s continued growth.
Grand openings have become much more than a project I manage—they’re something I’ve grown with, learned from, and come to understand from nearly every angle. I’ve learned to think beyond opening day and focus on the bigger picture: making every launch count, helping teams succeed, and creating a first impression that lasts long after the doors open.
I’ve grown up with this program, and I’ve learned that a grand opening is never just about one day. It’s about everything that goes into making that first impression and after count.
P.S. I also executed this beautiful ALDI Grocery Bag inflatable :)
